By the age of 11 weeks, Ruby was quite familiar with a ukulele, both watching it be played, and trying to do something with it herself.
Ukuleles are reasonably safe from babies, but you should NEVER LEAVE A NEWBORN UNATTENDED, ESPECIALLY if they have a ukulele.
That uke was one of the first things Ruby was able to 'drive' - she couldn't hold onto a rattle for very long yet, couldn't grab onto anything that wasn't just sitting in her lap, but just by fidgeting her fingers around the strings, she was able to get rewarding little sounds to come out of it!
Here's one that shows just how much progress she made between 11 weeks and 6 months (while I wasn't using a camera...)
Sadly, UkeSchool is very young, and Baby Uke School is down the list of things to make. You can track the construction process in our construction blog.
